Volunteer/Intern

Old Swedes Historic Site is always looking for people who love a good story, and want to share it with others. We are a friendly, supportive team dedicated to educating others about colonial life in Delaware. Tour guides (interpreters) make their own schedules, have the opportunity to learn our story, and participate in special events. Other opportunities are available in the areas of event set-up, costumed history-makers for specialty tours, graveyard/grounds maintenance, genealogical research, and office work.

Apply to volunteer: the Old Swedes Foundation welcomes volunteers of all ages. If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please email us at programs@oldswedes.org, or call us at 302-652-5629.

Internship Opportunities

Internships are usually unpaid and are available in a variety of areas: collections, education, and exhibition. Interns are supervised by paid staff and will interact with volunteers, consultants, and the public. Staff is willing to work with students to design a project for university credit. Preferred applicants are those in a M.A. or B.A. program in Museum Studies, History, Art History or Education, with an interest in working in a historic site or a museum. Contact us at admin@oldswedes.org to discuss opportunities for a mutually agreed upon project.
